The colour for Autumn/Winter 2009/2010 has been announced. The bold, sharp and vibrant red has been chosen to represent the attitudes and styles for this Autumn/Winter season. With the current climate, both in financially and environmentally, designers have pledged vibrancy in defiance against the much more drab-looking world around them.
Designers such as Alexander McQueen have taken the line of creative and bold statements in a season where affordability and austerity is top of the priority list. Red is definitely a colour that brings together high-end fashion and audacious statements. The new hue is also a great stance of femininity and vitality, with the elegance and grace of wearer standing out with courage and conviction.
While clothing labels have adopted this vibrancy with great enthusiasm, the leg wear brands have also decided to provide the fashion world with animation. Pamela Mann has always been at the fore-front of creative imagery and the daring colour designs are always popular for both Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter. Jonathan Aston has also had a great range of bright colours in the Jonathan Aston Sheer Colour tights, which have long been the popular choice for a blend of sheer hosiery and bright colour. Another designer not to fail this season is Le Bourget, with the Le Bourget All Colours, which debuted this May in Paris’ Galeries Lafayette.
Red is the colour, but vibrancy is also highly valued for this Autumn and Winter, meaning the whole of the body is going to be involved in fashionable attire. The Pamela Mann gloves are a big fashion addition to the wardrobe and combined with other vivid and courageous products will make for a fantastic and dynamic look this year.
The biggest material this season is most definitely leather. The Dominatrix look is in for sure and with that comes the most necessary of materials, black leather. While Hermès and Jean Paul Gaultier have unleashed brown leather in the form of Amelia Earhart style 1940’s flying jackets, other designers are sticking with black, such as Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent , Balmain and many others, donning black leather jackets, thigh-high boots, black leggings and corsets for a bold fashion statement this upcoming season.
The items currently in focus are the dress, the shorts, the skirt and the corset. Elle Collections Autumn/Winter 2009 advised its readers that these are the essential items to buy for the next months, beaten only by the jacket.
If leather is the material you choose this season, then leg wear is essential. The Dominatrix look is incomplete without either stockings or hold-ups, as legs are one of the most important aspects of seduction in the S & M scene.
Nets are perfect for this trend, with fishnets being both very feminine and coming in a variety of styles such as micro-nets and whale-nets. The fishnets also come in a range of types, such as tights, hold-ups and stockings. The Jonathan Aston Stringers are popular classics, along with nearly the whole Leg Avenue range. Sassy products are also an essential addition to any sensual wardrobe, and are an ideal accompaniment to any pair of stockings.
Back seam hosiery is a classic choice for a seductive look, and the Jonathan Aston Contrast Seam and Heel range is of the best quality products on the market. Levante Amore Back Seams are also a fantastic choice for both home and office wear. With both black and leather coming back in this season, many are looking for a Weimar look and are harking back to 1930’s Europe. The Cette Berlin Stockings are perfect for this style and provide both high quality and sensual appeal, perfect for that dominant and sultry look.
Prada’s latest show in Milan has defined the autumn/winter season of 2009/2010. The wartime look is in this season, with clothing popular in the 40’s making a come-back. The Italian designer has chosen a mixture of berries and browns for the new season, with simplicity and modesty being the centre of the new look. This means slightly longer dresses and less one-piece skirts.
French fashion labels have also been releasing their war era designs, such as Jean Paul Gaultier’s new designs, featuring an Amelia Earhart style flying jacket and goggles at the Hermès show.
As the 1940’s is the era being recreated for autumn and winter, the hosiery world is flooded with stockings this season, especially seemed stockings and seemed hold-ups, which gives a combination of period fashion and attractiveness. The Pretty Polly Vintage Stockings and the Jonathan Aston Contrast Seem and Heel Stockings are perfect for completing this look as well being very good for showing the natural beauty of the legs. Also on the list for the vintage look is the Cervin range. This brand is all about vintage and the aesthetic quality is unbeatable.
Pretty Polly’s Love Legs are also the perfect buy for this fashion season. These products help enhance the natural beauty of the legs, and will work well with the simplicity chic of the season
With summer in full swing, most people are abandoning high denier leg wear in favour for sheers, and with the weather getting gradually warmer; some are leaving tights alone completely. However the Pretty Polly Natural range, a variety of sheer tights, hold-ups, knee highs, and ankle highs are designed to keep the wearer cool and enhance the natural beauty of the legs.
Pretty Polly have been at the fore-front of innovative leg wear since their founding in 1919, and with their Natural range, they realise that designing tights to keep the legs cool is not enough, which is why they have also released a range of hold-ups, ankle highs and knee highs to suit all tastes.
Not only are the products very low in denier to ensure the greatest effect, but are also made from Sideria yarns, which are exceptionally strong, adding a greater life to the product, and reducing ladders and snags.
We have an entire section just for summer sheers why don’t you take a look .
Image is an important part of performance art, and because of this, entertainers will often wear clothing designed to not only look fabulous, but to enhance their natural talent and abilities. Dancers in particular utilize the support and compression effect of tights to strengthen their leg muscles both to perform better during recitals and to slow down the wear and tear of joints.
With this audience in mind, Pretty Polly have released a range of tights designed to enhance the firmness of the leg muscles and stop the onset of varicose veins and ruptured capillaries. Pretty Polly Support is a unique product that offers fantastic reinforcement for the leg muscles, and combined with a low denier, is a fashionable item of leg wear. Pretty Polly has also provided its buyers with three different varieties of their support products, with light, medium and firm for an array of different support tights. These sheers are the perfect leg wear for supporting the legs while exercising or relaxing and come at an affordable price.

With a much warmer summer upon us in the UK than we are used to, our beaches are more frequented than ever. This means that some swimwear companies are enjoying a 50% increase in sales, and unfortunately for the shopper, have also put up their prices to get the most out their customers. With money not being readily available these days, this tactic of taking advantage of the customer can really be a strain on the bank statement.
So UK Beachwear, the sister-site of UK Tights, has decided to help out our customers with this problem. For every order of hosiery placed at UK Tights, a code is sent to the customer on their order form. This code, when entered into the “Offer” section at the UK Beachwear checkout, gives a 20% discount on whatever order you place. Whether it’s £30 or £300, every order is reduced by 1/5th of the original price, and with UK Beachwear’s fantastic range of products, prices and styles, this offer could go a long way.
