mm_Fresco-Tartan-TightsIn the past few months we’ve been celebrating quite a few special days of celebration. First was Hallowe’en, then there was a short reprieve for November, then of course it was Christmas, New Year’s and probably some unlucky person’s birthday in very early January.

Well now is the time for a well-deserved rest, don’t you think. Well there’s still Burns’ Night on the 25th January to get out of the way first. Burns’ Nights is the celebration of the life, work and birthday of Scottish poet Robert Burns, and to celebrate this national treasure’s day of birth, all of Scotland will be donning tartans, plaids and argyles with pride.

Of course, UK Tights will be doing its bit this week by providing the nation with a fantastic choice of tartan tights so you can really get into the spirit of this weekend’s celebrations. Our personal recommendation would be the Bonnie Doon Plaid Tartan Check Tights, the name alone, Bonnie Doon, is easily the most Scottish thing you’ve ever heard, and the product is just sensational.

If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, there is, of course, the newest addition to the UK Tights family, Max Mara. Their Fresco Tartan Cotton Tights are easily the best patterned product on the hosiery market and no fashion-enthusiast should ever go without a pair of these.

For those of you that don’t like wearing tights all day, every day, we also supply tartan hold ups. This wonderful product from Le Bourget is a fantastic buy, and our customers have always come back to us with compliments and praise.

There’s not much you’ll be stuck for this weekend with the range of bonnie Scottish patterns, so “tak a cup o’ kindness” and add a few of our products to your basket for this weekend’s Burn’s Night party. Cheers!

mm_Firenze-TightsIn 1947, a designer by the name of Achille Maramotti started his own portfolio stylish clothing and in 1951 he launched the House of Max Mara. His ventured launched him to the top of the fashion world and he began commissioning Karl Lagerfeld, Dolce & Gabbana and many others to contribute to his line. The company remains in the hands of the family to this day and Maramotti has been named on the Forbes Rich List in 2005. He was estimated to be one of the world’s richest men and judging by the creative designs you get from Max Mara, it’s not difficult to see why, every item of clothing you see is so stunning, it’s worth every penny. This is also why they like to maintain a veil of secrecy about the goings-on of the company, because their clothing designs are exquisite, they know they will be stolen in a heartbeat.

To say that Max Mara is worth every penny, and to say its founder is on the Forbes Rich List might put some people off the idea of browsing their selection. Don’t let this fool you; the price of their hosiery is surprisingly reasonable for a fashion house of this calibre. Their most inexpensive product is less than £10, but feels like it’s worth 50.

Famed for being one of the best for almost all articles of clothing, not least their fabulous coats, Max Mara have now decided to increase the availability of their hosiery by selling their collection online. We are honoured to be able to boast that we are the first online resellers to offer this sensational brand to our customer base.

la_Extra-Long-Leg-Warmers-3915Winter has always been a time when we go out and buy the warmest, most insulated clothing we can get our hands on. These items, however, can be a little on the garish and ghastly side and some should never be worn unless on the side of the Everest.

Recently though, designers have realised that as the weather worsens each year, people spend longer and longer wrapped up in the sort of clothes they would rather leave be. This is why fashion designers have released some pretty impressive pieces this last autumn/winter season.

At UK Tights, we have several suggestions on how to spruce up your wardrobe with up-to-the-minute fashion items, without having to put up with the cold weather.

Our “Leg Warmers” section in the “Fashion” menu has some fantastic suggestions for the loose and thick leg socks, a very popular style these days. The opaque page is always a sensible place to head, and with our super-thick 120 denier products, there’s not much you can’t find there.

Good news about the timeless Italian designers too, our Trasparenze Chopin Tights are now on special offer, just another reason to dispose of those overly-large coats in favour of something a little more chic this season!
