Exciting news everyone! UK Beachwear, the sister-site of your favourite online hosiery retailer, has launched its new blog!
For some months, the Technical Department has been working on improving the look, feel and overall usability of the UK Tights Blog. Recently, however, we felt that our posts weren’t reaching the full audience of our customers; after all, some of you are avid hosiery lovers, while other customers are dedicated beach-dwellers, and absolutely have to have something sensational to wear while sunbathing.
After a few days of drafting and designing, we have finally launched the new page that is ready to view. Of course, we will include a link to the page for you in this post.
This new blog will, of course, contain a continuous update of new brands, seasonal designs, offers, events and side projects, like our new YouTube channel and perhaps even some video-blogs in the future! Happy viewing and happy shopping!
As you may have found from previous posts on this blog, UK Tights is a very customer orientated company, and taking this into consideration, we don’t just want to provide you with a fantastic range of high quality hosiery. We want to offer you, our faithful readers and patrons, a full media and information experience that will keep you up to date with everything that is happening at your favourite hosiery shop.
Our boffins in the Technical and Marketing Departments are always looking for new ways to inform and entertain our readers, and what better way to spice up readership than giving you viewership. UK Tights will be launching a series of YouTube videos that will keep you updated on our new products, offers, events and anything that you might find useful.
We are currently arranging lighting, sets and some camera equipment, so the finished result should be available to view very soon.
We would love our dedicated blog readers to comment on the first video and I can assure that any requests for specific videos will be passed on to the management.

Yet another brand of ours has delivered their spring summer designs to our workplace and the products are now ready to be viewed by you, the faithful fashion lover. And what a set of designs! Hudson has always had a thing for flashy colours, and spring, of course, is the perfect time for a good dose of hue.
As is customary at the Mothership of UK Tights that is the official blog page, we shall move through all the new designs and provide you will a brief description of what is on offer this season. The first stop on our journey is Batik, a fantastically in-trend item that looks like it will be staying stylish for several more months. And why are we not surprised? It is a wonderfully bohemian piece that has never really went out of fashion in the first place, so it’s sure to be a winner this season!
The name of the next item gives you a pretty good idea as to what it’s all about. Super Colour is a medley of spots, stripes and bursts of colour that would be perfect for summer parties and with such a varied array of shade, no one in their right mind could stay unimpressed for long.
We have also been given a design that is certainly not for the faint hearted. Mermaid is an explosion of pastel green and candy pink that can’t help but leave the average onlooker stunned. Of course, Mermaid isn’t just a plain old block of colour; a tasteful floral pattern adorns this wonderful piece, making it perfect for wearing outside in the sun.
And now, for something a little bit different. The Capri Leggings are a mixture of footless tights and hold ups, and are the first of their kind to be featured on our pages. They are the perfect spring/summer item that will suit everyone, hold up and footless lovers alike.
Also on the theme of topless and bottomless, Hudson have also made a Fashion Ankle Cuff, a wonderful ankle accessory that starts half way up the calf and cuts off between the heel and ball of the foot. This little beauty is sure to be something for those who don’t want to be hindered by full length garments, but couldn’t possibly leave the house unadorned!
It looks like spring this year has already given us some things to be excited about, with something for every taste, and to think, it’s only been spring for a week, we still have many months worth of stuff to show you!
As is expected this time of year, many of the entries on this blog will include detailed reports on the new ranges for the spring/summer season. And it’s no surprise, what with all the fantastic new designs that are flying off the shelf as we speak.
It is, of course, usual at this point on our calendars, to look toward the Italian designers for guidance. Trasparenze, one of our leading brands, have delivered the new stock to us already, and their designers deserve every bit of praise they get this season.
Paphia Capri Leggings will be the first of the new stock that shoppers will lay their eyes on in the Trasparenze section, and they aren’t exactly a subtle way to introduce the new portfolio. A blinding display of high gloss colour awaits every bold shopper with this item, and of course there is little to say about this item, except it is another Trasparenze success, both an innovative design and a wonderful quality piece that will stay fresh and fashionable throughout these next months. But be warned, passers-by may suddenly find their sunglasses momentarily ineffective.
But let us step away from this mad display of hue, shade and tone for a second, and let’s observe the classic Trasparenze style, mock stockings. Renella, while being a stunning design, didn’t surprise us at UK Tights. The mock stocking is an old favourite, and a speciality of Trasparenze, and why not include it in the new season’s stock? After all, they are a smashingly practically alternative to a real suspender belt, which aren’t much fun in the summer heat. Renella also have a delightful mock panty and darling little spots, tastefully circling the stocking tops. A real winner for those who don’t feel like imitating a set of belisha beacons this season.
Another little gem from this range is Diodora, a wonderful diamond/floral/criss-cross pattern that’s sure to go down well at parties and work alike. Of course, the Italian fashion designers can’t be without black for a whole season, so Diodora is this spring/summer item chosen to keep the classic colour on the catwalk until autumn/winter comes around again.
And now, a product that’s not exactly new, but has been given a due makeover. The Oleandro 20 Coloured Tights are the louder, prouder and more up-to-date version of the Oleandro 20 Tights. We received so many requests for this fabulous item in different colours that Trasparenze have decided it was a perfect time to release the brightest shades they could, along with the new spring/summer stock. These tights are a fantastic choice for parties in the flashier colours, and perfect for the office in the plainer shades (unless you decide that azure is a good choice for behind the work desk. Why not? After all, you only live once!)
That is all for tights from the new range, but for every smashing design for the full length items, there is another sumptuous counterpart for the lower resting piece. Euspira is a delightful print that screams the mafia scene. A pin-stripe knee high?! Never! But Trasparenze have decided it’s about time to release just such a thing for our wearing (and viewing!) pleasure. Euspira looks just like a suspender belt with a fantastic floral/stripe mix that’s both period and contemporary.
Ensis is another item to get excited about from the socks and knee highs section. This little beauty screams “charming!” A wonderful floral item that you can’t help but love, it’s sure to be a popular print, so get a pair while you can. And last, but by no means least, Anachis finishes this collection off with stupendous style. Trasparenze have done these items in over-the-knee socks, toeless below-the-knee socks and ankle socks. If you want your legs to become a carnival of colour, these are definitely for you, and there is no small range of shade in this item, so you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Well, with all this choice at your fingertips, the only thing left to do is go and splash out! Happy shopping, and remember, for spring/summer 2010, the brighter the better!
Another season, another range of fashionable pieces to feast our eyes upon and a brilliant selection of hosiery to wear this Spring/Summer. Oroblu have recently sent the product testers at UK Tights the crème de la crème of their designs and we are greatly impressed.
A mixture of floral, the traditional Spring pattern and classic Rococo design makes for a truly tasteful range of hosiery. The first piece we saw was Celine, a wonderful grey, brown and powder-blue number that has set the tone for an impressive design portfolio. Doris is another fantastic and innovative product this season that has a unique appeal to tights and fishnet lovers alike, it’s a full length pair of tights with darker net pattern, colouring the legs like a sheer and looking just like a net. Allison is a fantastic tiger print look-alike and really stands out, both from the collection and from your legs. Tania is the design to watch out for in this range, with a clear Chanel tribute in the solid block of colour and the stripes.
Chanel released this pattern at the beginning of the season and many copycats have appeared since, but Oroblu have taken the design to a different level, with a four section leg instead of the two sections found on the Coco impersonator. If one thing is for sure, these tights are no carbon copy.
And now for hold ups. Sharon is a slightly simpler item with the same theme of floral patterning and a wonderful lace top, fantastic for parties and a more chic office image alike. These hold-ups also come in an “oh-so chic!” sock, wonderful for those fashion followers that are plagued by full-length hosiery in the warmer weather.
And speaking of the shorter items, the Amanda Knee Highs are one to look out for. They aren’t exactly a floral, so we think they might be tiger print, who knows? What we do know is, no one with even a slight interest in quality clothing or creative design could ignore this item, another triumph from one of the world’s best loved hosiery producers.
The final product UK Tights has taken on for spring from the Oroblu collection a fantastic piece, and really embodies the styles you can expect to see these coming months in every collection, catwalk, and conurbation in the country. The Lisa Knee Highs are a smashing design that won’t fail to be loved by on-lookers. They aren’t quite a floral, coral or abstract pattern, but they are absolutely sensational and Oroblu certainly aren’t afraid of lace, even their knee highs have got this stuff on them! Well, what’s the point of going plain when you can go fabulous?!
The season to be jolly is finally coming to an end. Hallowe’en, then Christmas, New Year, Hogmanay and finally Burns’ Night all following each other is a fantastic excuse to let our hair down, but we still have one more party to go.
Valentine’s Day stands as one of the most important days of the year for those of you in a relationship. Some of us underestimate this humble holiday and claim it is simply invented by the card companies to fill the void between Christmas and Easter. You’d be wrong!
14th February is a fantastic opportunity to show that special someone how much they mean to you, but for those of you who insist on being cynical about it, it’s also a day to earn some major brownie points with your better half!
So whatever your stance is on this holiday, treat your significant other to a gift that they might really love. Designers are always trying to reinvent the way we look at our clothing, with some designers blurring the lines between gender to change what we’re wearing. Manbags are the classic example, being extremely popular in Europe and now Jean Paul Gaultier has released his range of guyliner, but its mantyhose that we are interested in. Certainly not a new phenomenon, tights for men is still a ground-breaking statement in the fashion world. Men in tights have been the norm for hundreds of years and it’s understandable that the trend is returning.
Big Business however, might just ruin the return. Selfridges have been the first big department store to take on the products, but for some years now, smaller businesses have been making anatomically designed men’s tights and selling them at a reasonable price. Compared to Selfridges charging a modest £70 per pair, Parisian brands like Gerbe are a steal, with some of their items selling at less than £20 and European brand WoMan selling theirs at less than £10.
Whoever said that cutting edge fashion had to be so costly? It wasn’t us and we stand by our belief, hosiery should be affordable and for everyone who cares to wear it.
There are few things that come close to getting something new. A new phone, CD or gadget gives us a warm feeling that can’t be replicated and to see a newly renovated website that makes clothes shopping that bit more enjoyable and easy is a real delight.
The Tech Boffins at UK Tights have been hard at work for a number of weeks and finally they emerged from their dark rooms last week, malnourished and unshaven announcing to the other employees with pride “We’re done, the new site has been launched”. The held-in breath of the crowd had released and we went about picking and packing your orders and answering phones like never before.
Within one day our switchboard was chock-o-block with calls, almost all of which were testimonials to how easy our new website was to use. Our site not only looks fantastic (if I do say so myself!), but it also has an entirely new search system that is our most accurate yet. Hopefully, you the customer will be able to find an item to your exact specifications without having to trawl through page after page of thing you don’t fancy. Also, with our customer service number right at the top of the page, those of you who, like myself, aren’t computer savvy will have no problem placing your orders over the phone (yep, you can do that too now!), isn’t technology a wonderful thing!
With a much warmer summer upon us in the UK than we are used to, our beaches are more frequented than ever. This means that some swimwear companies are enjoying a 50% increase in sales, and unfortunately for the shopper, have also put up their prices to get the most out their customers. With money not being readily available these days, this tactic of taking advantage of the customer can really be a strain on the bank statement.
