The first thing you have to do is know what is a snag and what is not. Sometimes little marks are actually slubs. These are naturally occurring markings inside of certain material, usually silk. They can appear in numerous other fabrics however. You need to make sure than the fine threads of your tights are actually tangled or a small breach in the fabric is present. That is what constitutes a snag in your tights. A slub is quite the opposite. A thickening of the fabric, where the material gathers. It is often a little darker than the surrounding area, but should not be twisted or warped or have any gaps.
Stop The Snag In Its Tracks – Method 1, The Massage
Stopping the snag is tricky, but there are a few ways to do so. The first one is to massage the material a little bit. Put your thumbs on the sides of the snagged area and pull outwards. Often a snag will result in the material pinching together. Just a very gentle pulling apart might be all you need. IF the snag is semi-invisible now, then you might get away without any issues. Stop The Snag In Its Tracks – Method 2, Varnish
It is a bit of an old wives’ tale at this point, but there is truth to it. Using a bit of nail varnish can do the trick in a pinch. f course, we mean clear nail varnish. Just put a tiny dab of the stuff on the area whilst it is stretched out. It will create a seal and stick the fibres together. This is essentially using a clear glue, but it wont stick to your leg. Please note, use this only on nude tights or it can look grey on black tights. And it is only for the smallest of snags. Don’t use this on a ladder or a large run. It will look like you have spilled craft glue on your leg. It shouldn’t even be enough to paint your little finger.
Stop Future Snagged Tights With Run Resist Tights
The best thing is always prevention, not cure. The best thing you can do is buy items that don’t snag easily. Snagged tights can be prevented most of the time with run resist tights. This is the simplest and best way to do it. Temporary measures are precisely that. Great in the moment but not at all something to be relied on. The varnish method with get you through the night, for example. But you will have to throw those tights out later. Here, with ladder resist tights, you are much safer. These will prevent snagged tights really well.
