Antiochia is named after the famous and ancient city of Antioch in what is now Turkey. Historically, this ancient city was founded by the Greeks but has largely built in the local styles too. This made it the perfect meeting place of East and West, and that is what this designby Transparenze reflects. The curving patterns of the foot and the ornate flourishes are typically Eastern, but go up the leg and take a look at the patterns near the top of the thigh and you have an arrangement that is something much more like the top of a Greek column or the wall decorations of a European palace. It is the perfect syncretic design and a stunning achievement from the design team at Trasparenze.
