What Denier Tights Do I need?
If you don't know anything else about tights, this is a good place to start. Denier is the weight of the fabric that tights are made from. The greater the number of the denier, the heavier the weight the material the tights are made out of. So in winter, you would likely wear heavier denier tights than you would in summer, for example. Tights with a lower denier also ladder way easier than those of a higher denier. Or if you tend to be quite heavy-handed, you should probably steer clear of the lower denier tights. Here are some examples of where you might wear the most popular denier tights:
- • Going out on a summer evening, light, sheer 10 denier
- • Summer office day wear 15 denier
- • Slightly harder wearing summer office wear 20 denier
- • Spring or autumn office wear, slightly sheer appearance 30 or 40 denier
- • Winter office wear, opaque appearance 60 or 80 denier
- • Outdoor winter tights over 100 denier
- • Bonfire night, snowy days 200 denier
- • Winter party tights 15 or 20 denier
Its important to note that Denier is a measure of weight, some higher denier tights,40 plus can also be classed as a sheer tights.
